Terms of Use

The ground rules for parents, schools and gate staff using Kiddypin.

Last updated: [draft, not yet published]

Draft. This page is a working draft and hasn’t had legal review yet. Highlighted items still need confirming.

The service

Kiddypin helps schools verify who collects each child, through registered guardians, one-time pickup codes and parent pickups, and keeps a record of every pickup attempt. It’s provided by PuissantDev. [to confirm: legal entity name]

Accounts

  • Parents create their own account and link it to their child’s school.
  • Schools register and are activated once Kiddypin has reviewed them.
  • Staff accounts are created by the school’s admin. There is no self-serve staff signup.

Keep your sign-in details private, and tell us or your school straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

What parents agree to

  • Keep your guardian list accurate, with recognisable photos, and remove anyone who should no longer collect your child.
  • Share one-time codes only with the person they’re for. A code works once and expires after the time you choose.
  • Add to your restricted list anyone who must not collect your child, and keep it up to date.
  • Only add information you’re entitled to share.

What schools agree to

  • Give gate access only to staff who are authorized to release children.
  • Deactivate staff accounts when someone leaves or changes role.
  • Follow the result shown at the gate. When it says to verify manually, or that payment isn’t up to date, use the school’s own manual process before releasing a child. Never release a child when the result is “Do not release”.
  • Record payments truthfully when confirming them.

Kiddypin supports staff judgment, it doesn’t replace it

Kiddypin checks the information parents and schools have given it. Matching a guardian to their photo is done by gate staff, and restriction checks match on the name given at the gate. The final decision to release a child always rests with the school’s staff. [to confirm with counsel: liability wording]

Fees

Schools include Kiddypin in their own fees, per family, per term, and confirm payments in Kiddypin. Questions about fees go to your school. [to confirm: refunds and what happens when a term lapses]

Acceptable use

Don’t try to get into accounts or school data that aren’t yours, interfere with the service, or use it for anything other than managing school pickups.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Kiddypin available, but it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. Schools should keep a manual pickup process ready for those times. We may update the service and these terms, and will post changes on this page.

Ending your use

You can stop using Kiddypin at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or put children at risk. How we handle your data afterwards is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Governing law

[to confirm: these terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts with jurisdiction]
